Solar energy is the future, and the present. It’s now available everywhere. It is renewable so it will always be accessible. Solar technology has been around since the 1700s. The first solar cell was invented in the 1800s. People didn’t put much stock in solar technology, though.

A new concern for the state of the environment, however, compounded with the fact that fossil fuels are nonrenewable sources of energy, has made people take a second look at the power of the sun. Solar energy expertise has grown in leaps and bounds since the first cell was developed and we can take full advantage of it today.

At Island Solar Cell, located in sunny southwest Florida, we have been in the business of helping you harness the energy of the sun for over a decade. And I practice what I preach. My own home on Pine Island uses a solar energy system.

We offer complete solar design, installation, service and repair, inspection and estimates on off-grid and grid-tie/battery back-up/ generator systems—large or small...and we can tailor the system to your satisfaction.

Types of Systems

• Solar grid-tied sytem:
The home is supplied power by a utility company. The solar electric system feeds power back directly to the utility company (no power is available in a power outage situation).

• Solar off-grid system:
The home’s power is provided by the solar power system. The home is not connected to a utility company.

• Solar grid-tied system with battery back-up:
The same as grid-tie with the addition of a back-up battery in the event the utility company power goes out.

• Solar hybrid grid-tied sytem with battery/ generator:
As explained above but with the addition of a generator which allows the homeowner the ability to have power for as long as the utility remains down.

• Solar hybrid off-grid system with battery/generator:
This system provides the home with all of the electric needed. There is no utility available or connected.
